Optical Encoders
Grayhill’s optical encoders excel in the most demanding user interface applications that require discrete digital positioning and angular detection at start-up. The optical switching technology ensures a long life of up to 10 million cycles. Grayhill specializes in human interface encoders, which are manually operated and provide tactile feedback.
Output options include absolute or quadrature 2-bit code. Custom shaft and threaded bushing sizes are available. To increase the functions in one control, Grayhill offers optical encoders with concentric shafts, joysticks and pushbuttons integrated into compact devices.
Grayhill also offers encoders designed to be operated mechanically within a piece of machinery, with up to 1024 pulse per revolution and maximum shaft speeds of up to 8,000 RPM. They also feature exceptionally high operational life ratings for demanding, machine actuated operation. Output options include absolute or incremental quadrature 2-bit code. Custom shaft sizes and switch terminations are available to suit many applications. Typical applications measure speed, distance traveled and/or rotational angle.
